Frequently asked questions

How much wood will I burn?

-There are many variables which can affect wood consumption. They include size of area being heated, how well the structure being heated is insulated, firewood quality, outside air temperature, as well as others. At Buehrer Farms our goal is to use the answers to some of these questions along with our experience of past installations to size you a unit that you will only have to put wood in twice a day at the most.

What parts are included with the furnace?

-The price of the furnace includes the furnace itself, a water test kit, and two 4-foot pieces of stainless steel insulated chimney. All other parts and accessories are sold separately to meet the varying needs of each specific customer.

Do I need a concrete pad?

-No, a concrete pad is not required for residential units. Many customers do pour a concrete pad, however, a row of cement patio blocks around the outside perimeter of the furnace will also be sufficient (commercial units, CL 7260 and Pallet Burner, do require a concrete pad).

How do I remove the ashes?

-Ashes are simply shoveled out through the front door. No gimmicks or gadgets, by removing the ashes through the door of the furnace you only have to handle the ashes one time, and never have to bend over, no augering and then shoveling, and no bending over for ash doors down at the ground.

How long is Central Boilers warranty?

-Central Boiler leads the industry with its commitment to stand behind its outdoor furnaces by offering a 25 year warranty. (Warranty includes a corrosion coverage) Pallet Burner model carry a different warranty.

How far away can I place a Central Boiler from my home?

-The furnace can be as close as 4 feet and up to 500 feet away from your home.

How complicated is the installation?

-Installation is easier than you might think. About 75-80% of our customers install their own furnaces. The installation can usually be completed in 1-2 days with the use of the installation manual which comes with the furnace. Buehrer Farms can also arrange to have your furnace installed for you.

Can a Central Boiler be connected to a forced air system?

-Yes, by using a water-to-air heat exchanger you can adapt a Central Boiler to a forced air heating system. Over 65% of our customers use forced air.

Bixby Corn Stoves

Does a Bixby corn stove need a chimney?

-Bixby uses a direct vent system that can be installed directly out the back of the stove and straight through the side wall of your home.

What does the stove sit on?

-Unless the stove is placed on concrete or tile it is recommended that you put a hearth pad under the stove.

Does my corn have to be dried and cleaned?

-The Bixby stove can burn corn with up to 19% moisture, however, you will get more heat out of corn that is drier. Bixby recommends that clean corn is used.

How do I light the corn?

-Push the ON button. That's all it takes. After you start the stove it automatically dispenses the necessary amount of corn into the fire pot and two heating elements light it.

Do I have to shut the stove down every day or two so it can be cleaned?

-No, the Bixby stove has a two stage fire pot which automatically dumps the ashes without letting the stove go out. You simply empty the ash pan when it gets full.
